May Athlete of the Month Chris Corbaley
The team has voted and the athlete of the month for May 2020 is Chris "Earthquake" Corbaley! Chris has been a long time member and a big supporter of everything we do at Bion. I will never forget the first conversation I had with Chris. It was a phone consultation and he had about 20 questions about what CrossFit was, how it would help him and his wife Steph (now coach), what our philosophy on training was in the gym, etc. It was a great conversation and I could tell Chris was really looking for a place he could trust with his fitness and call a second home. He has been with us pretty much from the beginning. We can't thank him enough for everything he does to make other members feel welcome. He helps the coaches out with demonstrations, has a positive attitude, and refers us to potential customers.

Q: How long have you been doing CrossFit and what keeps you motivated to keep coming back?
A: I've been doing Crossfit for about 6 years. The thing that keeps me coming back is being able to age and find new skills I couldn't do when I was younger. The icing on the cake is the like-minded people all encouraging each other to push their limits.
Q: Burpees or Wall Balls
A: Wall Balls, all day long.
Q: #1 Superhero and why?
A. That's easy - Superman - He embodies all the best characteristics of someone I would try to emulate. Courage, honor, sacrifice, and the cliche "truth, justice, and the American way". Most of all, he stands up for those who cannot do it themselves.
Q: Best restaurant in Tucson?
A. If we're talking about going all out, Flemming's. I know some people there and they definitely elevate the game (filet, Vodka martini's with bleu cheese olives, chocolate lava cake) If we're talking just go cause your hungry, I like Yardhouse. Great beer selection and tons of different types of food.
Q. If you could walk in another person's shoes for one day who would it be?
A. Froning - He's a stand-up dude, he has all the fitness to use his toys, and he has a lot of toys. ATV's, guns, etc. And that slip-n-slide into the pond while catching a football looks super fun.
Q: What is #1 on your bucket list?
A: Deep sea scuba diving.
Q: What's your #1 fitness goal for the year?
A: Getting more disciplined in my diet, which will absolutely help my overall fitness.
Q: What do you do for a living?
A. I'm in Finance at a car dealership. It just means that I get car loans approved, get the dealership paid, and offer protection solutions for both the loan and the vehicle if it happens to break down.
Q: The best part about being a dad?
A: There's nothing better than seeing my children surpass me in skill. It could be when they surpass me in kindness to others, it could be something athletic, or even a special skill. I love when my kids are better than me at things. Helping them get there is rewarding.
*One question I did forget, how he got the nickname "Earthquake?" I can tell you it involves a deadlift, but Chris can tell the story better. You will have to ask him in the box!
